Guide

Before enrolment:

  • A phone consultation is your opportunity to discuss your child’s needs and areas of strength. Any previous interventions, assessments, supports, extensions, successes or failures can be discussed here.

  • In consultation with you, an initial proposal for support may be offered depending on your child’s needs and service availability.

Before each session:

  • Ensure your child has had a healthy snack prior to their arrival as hungry brains do not bode well for learning.

To bring to each session:

  • A water bottle.

  • If your child is participating in multiple sessions, they may bring an easy-to-eat snack for between sessions.

  • Their Bright Sparks workbook.

Each session:

  • Each student will be asked how their week has been at school. This gives students the opportunity to share successes with the group as well as seek clarification. The main goal here is to aid the development of awareness of learning. Students will gradually become more conscious of their learning and their errors. We will redefine what it means to err as they realise mistakes are a critical part of the learning process.

  • Students will be given a workbook where any written work will be recorded. This can also serve as a communication book between home/school/BrightSparks when required.

  • Sessions do not follow a pre-organised program and are not computer-based. Sessions are interactive and catered to the needs of the students.

What’s included?

  • Holistic learning and development for your child in a safe, low-pressure, high-support environment.

  • All assessments are built-in to the sessions and all feedback to parents is included in enrolment.

  • Our priority is to support the learning and development of your child. As such we will provide all the support we can, inclusive of parent feedback and communication with school and third parties if required.
